Before I had my blog, I had made a few quilts!! and some of these have never been featured on her before - so I thought I would share some pictures with you of some of my earlier work. This quilt was made a few years ago, and the pattern is called "Turning Twenty Again" and is by Trisha Cribbs. The original pattern makes a quilt using 20 fat quarters, but I made a smaller version. This uses 12 fat quarters, with some extra fabric for the borders, backing and binding. All the fat quarters are cut out exactly the same, and this is perfect for layering 3 or 4 fat quarters one on top of the other, using a large 60mm rotary cutting blade (it's essential to have a nice new sharp one to slice through all those layers) and it's cut out ready for piecing in no time at all..... .....I added a narrow flange between the quilt top and the border, using a pale blue batik., and machine quilted this one myself, very simply just "stitch-in-the-ditch" using a variegated blue quilting thread, and used a cable pattern for quilting the border. This was before I had discovered Janette and her longarm quilting machine!! This is a good sized quilt, and one that I tend to use as a picnic blanket.

It is absolutely beautiful. I find your quilts lovely to look at and gain inspiration from. I've looked at so many and not made one yet but am about to start. I only have a tiny sewing machine though.
