I just read about this great idea over here on this blog - and thought "WOW that sounds like a fab thing to do too......"
So, how does it work?
  1. I will make a little something for the first 3 people who comment on this post. It will be a surprise and it will arrive when you least expect it.
  2. I will have 365 days to do it in. What's the catch? To get a handmade present from me, you have to play too! This means YOU pledge to send a little handmade something to 3 readers of your blog. It doesn't have to be quilty, or knitty or anything - just handmade.
  3. You must have a blog.
  4. Once you receive your "little something", you must post about your Pay it Forward on your blog to keep the fun going - be sure to use the Pay It Forward badge.
Go on leave a comment and join the fun.

I've made a few more of these cute makeup bags, featured on Anne-Grethe's blog, using  a circle template (a dining plate came in very useful!!). The turquoise one is make with "Simplicity" fabric and the beige one is made with "Martinique". Both fabric ranges are by 3 Sisters for Moda.

This stitchery pattern "Butterfly Bouquet" is by Leanne Beasley - I'd started this a few weeks ago, put it away, and sort of forgot about it.....then while I was sorting out a box of fabrics I found it again!! So yesterday I got out my sewing machine,  added some borders and quilted it very simply - then added the applique butterflies last of all..........

Picture
.....and now have a very nice cushion. This is a present for one of my colleagues, as she was the one who told me about the vacency that I applied for, and she's the main reason I've now got my wonderful job :).....

Picture
.....I'd made one with the same stitchery design last year for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day.

Picture
.....this is the very clever mum - she was vey proud of her pups, and wanted us to make a huge fuss of her. it was so lovely to see them - but made us realise how much we all miss our beautiful dog Magic :(

Oh yippee - my first blogging award!!!
I was nominated by my friend Pam - you must pop over to see her blog - her work is VERY neat - anyway, on to this blogging lark - I have to say seven things you may not know about me and nominate 5 blogs I've recently discovered for the award.

First of all things about me:-
1. My first love is stitchery - that was the very first class that I taught at my local quilt shop.
2. I adore Norwegian patterns and I'm AnnAKa's number one UK fan!! oh dear - you probably know that already!!
3. I work full time as a nurse and have recently changed jobs.
4. If I could be anyone for a day - dead or alive - it would have to be Phyllis Dixie - if you don't know about her, look her up on Google - she was one helluva gal :)
5. Best piece of advice I've ever been given is "never run after a man or a bus - there's always another one around the corner" hehe!!
6. My favourite colour is green - the very same colour as  The Versatile Blogger award button :).
7. I am totally addicted to shoes - I'm the Imelda Marcos of Suffolk!! - and if they hurt, then they must be FAB-U-LOUS!!

My five chosen people to pass the award to are:-

Evas Quiltrom
Eastern Sparkle Random Ramblings
Halfpenny Home
Fantasia Yarns
Maytheweed

Even more make-up bags :)

I had seen some make-up bags on Anne-Grethe's blog, and thought I would try to make some too - unfortunately, I was unable to track down the book that she uses, "Lapp på en to tre" by Annie Eikenesso, so armed with a dinner plate and Anne-Grethe's picture tutorial, I thought I'd have a go and make a "Mumma Foreman" version.....

Picture
.....firstly with some beautiful batiks that Eva gave me when I went to stay with her - 3 different fabrics have been used for this bag, and I quilted this using a varigated blue King Tut thread in a cross-hatch design.....

Picture
.....and I used Pellon wadding to give the bag more shape - I'm really pleased with how this turned out.....

Picture
.....then it was time to cut up this fat quarter bundle that I'd bought a few weeks ago from The Pretty Birdcage - the red floral fabric looks like lace, but unfortunately does not show up very well on the photograph.....

Picture
.....then I thought I'd have a go with just one piece of fabric - this was from Quilters Haven and is so pretty. I just simply quilted it with cream thread in a cross-hatch pattern, and used cream curtain lining for the backing.....

Picture
.....this really does look lovely now it is finished - I might use some lace and ric-rac to trim another one using the same fabric.....

Picture
.....these are very similar to some I had made a few weeks ago, and I been left a comment on my blog about these little make-up bags, and whether I had a pattern - well, I was given a template for these ones by some Norwegian ladies, and there is a tutorial for a similar makeup bag on Timotei's blog- it is in Norwegian, but the pictures are very easy to follow, and I do use google translate alot!!

Easter holidays.....

The Easter holidays have started out really well! Yesterday we had glorious sunshine, and I spent the day with my friend Heather - she came over to sew!! She brought me these beautiful roses, and some yummy HUGE white chocolate cookies and in turn I helped her to make some small boxy bags, and I made a quiche for lunch.

Picture
After lunch, we popped over to Quilters Haven to stock up on a few "essentials" (another tablerunner and placemats is the plan for this bundle of fat quarters)  and then we met up with my blogging friend Mara and her friend for a cup of tea and a chat in The Tea Pot - sorry, no piccies of that, as we were too busy yakking and showing each other what we'd bought to take any photos!! Then it was back home to teach Heather how to make ANOTHER bag!! Now...what can I plan for ther rest of the holiday??

What do you get when you take one Sushi roll for inspiration??
This fabric by Lecien is beautiful - it is so fine, and is just lovely to sew with.....

Picture
.....just a little bit of trimming needed.....

Picture
.....add some white background fabric - this keeps it looking crisp and fresh.....

Picture
.....add some hand stitchery and simple machine quilting.....

Picture
.....and here it is completed.
A beautiful quilt for a baby boy - a friend has commissioned this for their great-nephew - hope they like it :)

Picture
P.S. my friend Hanne wanted to see a picture of the whole quilt, so here it is - I've given this to my friend today and he was thrilled with it - so it will be going to the new baby VERY soon.
