I'm often asked about how to keep zippers loooking neat and getting a "professional" finish when making mags. Sewing in zippers can be tricky. I've found it easier to use a few dabs of fabric glue to the zipper tape to temporarily hold the zipper in place rather than using pins. Schmetz Microtex needles are great, and depending on the thread I'm using I'll use either a size 60 or 70 needle. I prefer to use a larger than usual stitch, and use the edge of the walking foot as a guide rather than using a zipper foot. Stitch slowly, remember to breathe, and you too can become a Zipper Queen!
