"Stitch it for Spring" is a lovely book by Lynette Anderson Designs, and is full of really pretty patterns. Recently I bought some gorgeous fabric online from Lynette's shop the Little Quilt Store, which is from the Pocketful of Daisies collection. I'd decided to stitch the Garden Delights table centre, and loved these appliqued bee hives, and embroidered hollyhocks... ...I used a selection of DMC threads for the embroidery. Pretty birds sitting on the bird bath, surrounded by a garden of flowers - daisies and hollyhocks and daffodils. This cute picket fence was appliqued into place with blanket stitch and cream DMC embroidery thread, and was made with wool felt from the Eternal Maker. The "nails" on the fence are colonial knots. Another blue bird is perched on one of the fence posts... ...the centre embroidered panel is appliqued onto a scalloped background, and the layers are held together with quilting around both circles. The final touch is two hand painted wooden bee buttons, and these bees are busy buzzing around the beehive. This just needs to be wrapped, and will be ready to give to my m-i-l for Christmas. Hope she likes this as much as I do!!

Hi Clare - Lynette's designs are gorgeous aren't they! I really enjoyed stitching this, and my mother-in-law absolutely loved it (it was her Christmas present). I might have to make another one for me!
