Ohhhh another baby quilt - this one was commissioned by my friend Emily, as one of her friends is expecting a baby (she already knows the baby is going to be a little boy!) and so I decided to use this Dino Dudes fabric by Michael Miller that has been lurking in my stash for way too long, (I had originally bought it from a shop in Framlingham, "The Pretty Birdcage", which has since closed down), and I was waiting for the perfect project to use it - and this was it!! I just love the bright colours - orange and red and lime and turquoise and deep chocolate brown..... .....this has been embroidered using a chocolate brown DMC embroidery thread shade 801, and I used 3 strands of thread as the letters are quite large. I traced these words from a book called "Winsome Baby" by Nancy Halvorsen. I enjoy adding some stitchery to these baby quilts, as it makes it more personal..... .....to make the sashing, I bought this bright lime green solid from my local quilt shop, Quilters Haven, in Wickham Market. The pattern is called Charm Squares Baby Quilt by Elizabeth Hartman, and is a free download from her blog Oh Fransson - this is one of my favourite baby quilt patterns..... .....It is very quick and simple to piece together, and I've quilted it using straight rows of quilting, ½" apart. I used a King Tut variegated lime green shade number 924 for the quilt top, and Mettler quilting thread dark brown shade 712 for the quilt back..... .....The striped binding fabric is from the same range of fabrics - and the backing fabric is also from the same range - just look at all these little Dino Dudes! As a final little flourish, I've added one of my labels to finish it off..... .....it IS rather bright! What do you think Emily? Do you think your friend's baby will like being wrapped up in this quilt?
