A couple of months ago I started the embroidery for this project - the pattern is "Christmas Collage" by the Australian designer Gail Pan. I'd stitched the hand embroidery using a spool of varigated Valdani perle thread (shade M57) from the Cross Patch Favouites collection. I deliberated over what trimmings and ribbons to use for embellishment, so put it to one side waiting for inspiration. I've felt overwhelmed this week with work and life in general so today I've shut myself in my sewing studio and spent a couple of hours finishing this project. And I'd finally made a decision about those embellishments... ...and so here's the finished project. The stitchery panel has been machine appliqued and embellished with some ric-rac, vintage lace, buttons, jingley-jangley bells and gingham ribbon. I even raided my pantry for some cinnamon sticks! I covered a piece of thick card with wadding, then covered the wadding with the embellished fabric. I've used a very plain white frame from Hobbycraft, and it will be all ready to display in a week or so when we put the Christmas decorations up!

I love this color Valdani. May I ask what size you normally use? I see this comes in size 8 or 12. I’m kind of new at this so asking.

Hi Judy -Valdani perle threads actually come in 3 different weights - 5, 8 and 12. If you use the link I provided to the Cross Patch Favourites collection of Valdani threads you'll see that these ones are all Perle 12 weight. Valdani Perle threads are lovely to sew with.
