Ages ago, one of my friends asked me if I could make a couple of these bags for her two daughters, and here they are - I chose my favourite AnnAKa pattern, Anna's Sminkepung, and my friend asked for black and white fabrics. I have used the same fabrics for both bags, but in a different layout..... .....I like using a fusible Pellon wadding for these bags, as it is semi-firm and keeps it's shape well. The larger bag has been quilted in a cross hatch design, and decorated with ric-rac and buttons..... .....I used a small tab at one end of the zipper so it is easy to undo, and can be hung up. As you can see, I used both black and white ric-rac, and different fabrics for each binding..... .....after machining into place, the zipper has been sewn on the wrong side of the bag by hand to keep it neat - I like finishing things off by hand, as I think it makes it extra special. I'm still adding a little flouish to my bags, by sewing one of my labels into the side seam - it says "made with the hand, given from the heart..... .....this is the larger bag completed - I'm really pleased with this one. it's a good size for make-up or toiletries..... .....the smaller bag has also been embellished, again with some rac-rac, but I also added some lace timming and appliqued a picture onto the front of this bag..... .....I wasn't sure if my friend's daughter would want one of my usual pictures of vintage lingerie, and girdles and stuff, so I chose this vintage advert for Maybelline make-up instead. I like the way the model is looking over her shoulder - very flirty!.... .....and here is the finished bag. Job done!! What do you think Suzanne? Will your daughters be pleased with them??

Hi Nicola, wow they look very striking in black and white. Fabulous! I have admired those charming bags you make but I can't seem to find the pattern by AnnAKa on the Lappedilla or Lappe- Elisa sites. I would be grateful for your help. Many thanks.

Ah, I was just about to say is it the pattern with the elephants? If so you have transformed it :) Sorry I looked last week and could not find it. There are several new patterns added which is nice. Thanks Nicola. Comments are closed.
