Another productive sewing session! A few scraps of batiks have been pieced together and machine quilted with some gorgeous Auriful threads in colours to match. An A5 size note book has been tucked inside this journal cover, and another Christmas gift has ticked off my list 😊 #craftygiftsforcraftyfriends

Mr F was working yesterday so I was busy in my sewing studio playing around with some fabrics from the "Frosty Friends" collection by Lynette Anderson Designs... ...there's something very relaxing and quite therapeutic about a simple style of machine quilting. Aurifil 40wt thread has been used for this, in shade 2626 which is a mid grey that really blends well with all these muted colours... ...my dining table is going to look very festive this year! Table runner pattern is "Anna" by Kari Renolen from the Norwegian quilting magazine MyQuilt issue 04/2015 - this is the third runner that I've made using this pattern.
I can finally reveal my latest project that was made with a selection of purple and lilac batiks. The pattern for this table runner is Anna, by Kari Renolen, from the Norwegian quilting magazine MyQuilt issue 04/2015. Made with a selection of batiks, I love the simplicity of this pattern. Machine pieced and machine quilted with a selection of Aurifil threads. This was a gift for a friend, and she was really pleased with it.
When I'm stitching batiks, I always use the finest needle I can - my favourites are Superior Titanium Microtex size 60 needles from Barnyarns and these have been machine pieced together with Aurifil 50wt thread... ...I chose a selection of lilac/purple threads to quilt this project, mostly in straight rows. I've also quilted an angular spiral in one of the blocks... ...and I've added one of my pre-printed labels to the back. Then the binding has been machined to the front, folded over and hand stitched in place.
There was a Christmas Craft Fair at work last week, and amongst the usual cakes and festive treats there was a few crafty things for sale. When I saw these crafty brooches I thought they'd be perfect Christmas gifts for some of my special crafty friends, so I couldn't resist buying a few of them!
