I often get asked if I can recommend a UK supplier of my favourite Apliquick tools, and they are now available at Cross Patch, in Wales. These are fabulous for hand applique. As you know, I adore using these tools. I really struggled with needleturn applique projects in the past, and was so pleased when I mastered the art of applique using Apliquick!

Now this has been gifted I can reveal my final crafty gift for a crafty friend! I've used a mixture of bright batiks, machine quilted very simply with a variegated King Tut quilting thread and mixed them with some linen, quilted with a matching coloured Aurifil thread. These A5 sized Pukka Pad note books are really useful, amd once the notebook has been used up, it can easily be replaced with another one as the cover is easily removable.
Tuesday evening was the last sewing session at Busybee Stitching before the Christmas holidays, and Gillian had organised a mystery project for us to make. We were given some fabrics, and a sheet instructions and we spent a busy evening cutting out cardboard, and fabric, and sewing and messing about with glue. It was just like being at playschool again! Well here is my finished project - this sweet Christmas angel. She's now hanging up in my sewing studio.
It was a bit of a "snow day" yesterday, which was perfect weather for sewing! First thing in the morning I pieced together a few scraps of fabric, and traced a stitchery design from the book "Living The Dream" by the Austalian designer Leanne Beasley (I used a lightbox and a pigma pen). Then I hand embroidered the design using 2 strands of DMC embroidery thread. Some simple quilting, and I'd got a new cover ready for my 2018 diary. This is smaller than the journal covers I'd made recently, and my new slimline diary is tucked neatly inside.
Arrived home from work on Thursday evening and my postman had very kindly delivered a little parcel from Cross Patch in Wales. Month 9 of Seaside Town by Lynette Anderson Designs is "Whale of a Time" and includes the cutest hand painted wooden button you ever did see... ...my productive morning yesterday at Kis Quilting Ltd enabled me to get the whale and clam shells appliqued into place, and the embroidery completed yesterday evening with these gorgeous variegated Valdani Threads (they do seem to break rather easily, so I use Thread Heaven with them). And to top it off the cutest hand painted wooden button perched rather precariously! The button will be stitched into place once the quilt is completed.
Yesterday morning I had a very relaxing time hand sewing at a "Sew and Go" session at my local quilt shop Kis Quilting Ltd in Ipswich. There's always a lovely atmosphere, and great company, and surrounded by gorgeous fabrics - what better way to spend a Saturday morning!
Another handmade gift ticked off my list, and yes it's another journal cover! Made with scraps of fabrics from the "Time With Friends" collection by Lynette Anderson Designs which has been quilted very simply with Aurifil thread and an A5 Pukka Pad note book has been tucked inside. These journal covers are quite simple to make, and are a great way to use up scraps of fabric. I had decided not to make any handmade gifts this year, then changed my mind and I've made just a few for some very special crafty friends. I hope they'll like them!
The past couple of years Mr F has bought me a beauty advent calendar as my Christmas gift, they're filled with all sorts of goodies to make me look and feel absolutely gorgeous. As we'd been on an amazing holiday to New Zealand recently, I really wasn't expecting anything much for Christmas, then on 1st December Mr F managed to surprise me yet again! Well here are the contents of the first 9 days of the this year's wonderful advent calendar. It really is simply AMAZING and hopefully I'm looking more and more glamourous every day! The only problem is I need to make a new toiletry bag to keep everything in!!
"My Hearts At Home" journal cover which has been made with a selection of fabrics from the My Hearts At Home collection by Lynette Anderson Designs. This has been machine quilted very simply with a selection of quilting threads by Aurifil and King Tut. An A5 sized note-book has been slipped inside (I really should have shares in Pukka Pads)! - and another handmade gift is ticked off my list! #craftygiftsforcraftyfriends
Normally I spend my Tuesday evenings having supper after work at a local supermarket before I head off to a local sewing group. Yesterday evening my supper was at a much nicer establishment! It was my works "Christmas bit-of-a-do" and it was a chance to get all glammed up. We'd booked a very large table at The Last Anchor, in Ipswich, and it was great to see so many of our team all together for the evening. The food was delicious, the company was great, and a jolly time was had by us all!
