I'd seen this gorgeous Aurifil 80wt thread on Instagram a few months ago, and was desperate to try it on one of my projects. It's finally available here in the UK and I ordered a couple of spools from Sew Hot to see what it was like. I deliberately chose a couple of fairly neutral colours, Antique Blush and Dove, to blend with most coloured fabrics. I was let down by a friend today, so instead of meeting up for coffee and scones, I spent the afternoon playing with another Flowerville dresden plate and this thread is absolutely superb! It's 100% cotton and glides through the fabric without tangling, and doesn't slip off my applique needle either!

Hi Elaine - these 80wt threads are beautiful to sew with. I'll certainly be investing in more colours! I haven't tried machine applique with them, but for hand applique they're perfect. I've never tried Aurifil 50wt for hand applique, but I like these so much better than the YLI silk and Bottomline 60wt that I'd previously been using.
