Now this has been gifted, I can share what my favourite sewing student has been up to! She's made another raw edge applique cushion - this one was for her Nanna's birthday. As before, the letters were traced onto Lite Steam-A-Seam 2, which is a double-sided fusible webbing, then adhered onto the wrong side of the fabrics. The letters are then cut out exactly on the traced line, the paper backing is removed and the latters placed onto the background fabric. Pressing with a warm iron ensures they are temporarily held in place, then each letter is secured with machine stitching approx one eighth of an inch from the raw edge. A zipper has been inserted into the back of the cushion cover - my studen is a quick learner, and was able to comple all if these steps herself with very little prompting. These lessons have been great for both of us, as her enthusiasm is infectious. Now we just have to decide on what her next project will be!
Hi - welcome to my quilting blog! My passions are my family, my dog, my friends and sewing, not necessarily in that order!
