I didnt get a chance to share this before I went on holiday, but this wonderful parcel was waiting for me when I arrived home from work a couple of weeks ago! In the first picture, there's "The Making of a Peaceful Day" book and the "Here, There & Everywhere" pattern by Anni Downs of Hatched and Patched AND a gorgeous pack of Super Bloom fabrics by Edyta Sita for Makower UK. As always, great customer service from Julia at Cross Patch. She really is such a temptress!

While I've been away on holiday, I've been making slow but steady progress with my latest project - the Stitching Circle Basket. This pattern is by Lynette Anderson Designs, and was purchased as a kit from Lynette's online shop Little Quilt Store in Australia. I used the Apliquick method of preparing the applique, and this has been hand embroidered using a selection of variegated Valdani stranded embroidery threads.
I'm away on holiday in Scotland with Mr F and some very special friends. I always take a hand sewing project with me on my hols, and this time I'd prepared the Circle Stitching Basket by Lynette Anderson Designs. I managed to get the applique stitched into place on your long coach journey north. It has been rather chilly today, so when we returned from a trip to Inverary this afternoon, to warm myself up, I settled down infront of a roaring log fire at the Loch Awe hotel for an hour or so of hand sewing before we got ready for dinner - absolute bliss!
My favourite scissors are the Perfect Scissors by Karen Kay Buckley and I've got quite a collection. The red handles ones have curved blades, and the orange and pink handles ones are multi-purpose scissors and are great for cutting paper, card and trmplate plastic. The others have serrated blades and cut fabric cleanly to reduce fraying, and they cut right up to the very end of the point of the blade. I absolutely LOVE Karen Kay Buckley products - I think I'm a scissorholic!
A few more foundation paper-pieced sub-blocks for "Interwoven" (an optical illusion design by Helen Butcher of Little Patch Pockets) have been stitched, pressed and trimmed. There are just 18 more to make! The first few sub-blocks were pieced together when I was on a workshop with Helen at Sew and So's last week.
These Hiroshima Tulip needles are absolutely my FAVOURITE embroidery needles. I've been using these for several years, and they really are lovely to use. As they're back in stock at Cross Patch, I couldn't resist putting in cheeky little order! Which brand are your favourites?
I could resist making just ONE more of these super scarves - this time using a blue Kaffe Fassett charm pack (this one is called Peacock) , purchased from Coast and Country Crafts and Quilts. The pattern, as always, is the Infinity Scarf, and is available as a PDF download from the Six Penny Memories website. These are really quick and simple to make, and add a splash of colour to any outfit. I'm looking forward to wearing this one - the only decision is whether to wear a blue jumper to wear with it... or a purple jumper... decisions, decisions!
Ohhh the smell of freshly baked cheese and onion scones, straight out of the oven! We're off to see my eldest daughter today, and she always requests a batch of my homemade cheese and onion scones. My other daughter has been busy baking too, and she really is the Quuen-of-sausage-rolls. We're very lucky to have a brilliant local butcher in Wickham Market, whose sausage meat is amazing, and these really are very tasty! So, laden with home baked goodies we're off to Ipswich for the day - my sewing will have to wait until next wweekend for more progress on my "Interwoven" blocks!
