More "Sminkepungers" are in production - another friend has had some bag-making lessons - she was an excellant student!! She very kindly brought her new pincushion to show me (of course I wan't jealous - much!!) that she'd made from Lynette Anderson's book "Quilting Cats and Dogs" - now, I've got this beautiful book too, and have I made anything from it yet?? No. And is that going to change VERY SOON? Yes, definately, especially as I really NEED one of those pincushions..... .....this was her final creation, which looked really pretty. We also managed to fit in a little bit of retail therapy (I bought some beautiful fabric to back the Høne Pøne runner and placemats that are in progress - piccies of that to follow later), had lunch out at Friday Street Farm Shop (2 Saturdays in a row there for lunch - how decadent - I'll soon have my own table!) and drank copious amounts of tea to keep us fortified. All in all we had a great time. She's written about it here on her blog too.
I had a great time last night with the girls from work - one of the admin assistants, Kay, was modelling at a Ladies night, and some of us went along to show our support :) It was all to raise money for charity, in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, and the fashion show was showcasing clothes by Persnickety (they sell good quility second hand ladies clothes). As you can see, we all had a great time..... .....unfortunatly I didn't get a chance to sample the other delights of the evening - reflexology, massage, beauty treatments - however I did get to do a bit of retail therapy - there were lots of stalls there and I bought a fab new bag from "Puzzles" - green of course!!..... .....and Persnickety were selling clothes too, so I couldn't resist snapping up this little bargain - a fab dress by "Laura Ashley" - it was just like new and a snip at £18 - oh I do like a bargain!! I shall definately have to have to make a trip there the next time I'm in Ipswich :) Yesterday the car was packed bright and early with lots of quilting and sewing paraphernalia, as I was spending the day teaching at The Pretty Birdcage, with some of my sewing groupies!! I am never failed to be amazed at the wonderful friends that I meet through my hobby..... .....even Lesley was able to take a well-deserved break from her wedding preparations to come along!! I kept everyone busy, making an assortment of make-up bags - I hope my groupies send me photos of their finished projects..... ....and we all enjoyed a lovely lunch to keep our energy levels up - it really was yummy. I'm over there again on Saturday 4th June to teach Applique and Hand Stitchery, then on Saturday 18th June to teach a class using my favourites - Jelly Rolls!!.... .....and finally, a picture of Mr and Mrs Birdcage themselves - my friend Carolyn and her lovely husband ;) Happy Birthday for yesterday Graham!! I'm writing this blog post all about my friend Eva!! She has just sent me some really exciting news - she has now got her own blog, "Evas Quilterom" so now I can follow her and keep up with all the beautiful things that she makes. This piccie was taken last summer when Eva came to stay with me - we really did have a great time together..... .....while Eva was here, we spent a couple of days on a workshop with Lynette Anderson over at my local quilt shop, Quilters Haven - Eva is really concentrating here - we were trying to master "Colonial Knots" - and if Lynette is reading this, yes we CAN remember how to do them - and we would both love to do another class with you hehe :) When Eva came to stay, she was the perfect house guest - she was quite happy to spend most of her holiday sewing, or going to quilt shops - and she bought me a lovely present too - a real proper Norwegian Waffle maker - here she is demonstrating how it works - my goodness those waffles were delicious..... Here's the Norwegian Waffle Maker in all it's glory - Eva even gave me her special recipe - they were just so crisp and yummy..... .....especially when they are served with blueberries and strawberries and extra thick double cream :) .....I first met Eva when I went to Norway for a holiday in November 2009 - I had gone to stay with my friend Hanne, and Eva was staying with her too - we got along really well (I am ashamed to say that my Norwegian was terrible and has not improved at all!!) and here is Eva, sitting in front of me - we were on a course with AnnAKa, making a Smykketeppe. Had a great day out today with my friends at Chilford Hall Quilt Show - there were absolutely loads and loads of wonderful stalls, and I saw lots of quilty things that I never realised I "needed" (photo's of my shopping to follow tomorrow!!) and some lovely quilts were on display. Lots of ladies at the quilt show commented on my shopping bag - thank you!! Here's a picture of my friends - Lesley, Joan, Carolyn and Jenny - these ladies are my "Quilting Groupies" and they religiously come to all my classes at Quilters Haven and are very supportive to me. This piccie was taken just after we'd had a super lunch (didn't take a piccie of that, as we had to queue for soooo long that by the time we sat down to eat it, we were so ravenous I completely forgot to get my camera out!!!). Those really lovely girls from Buttonberry , Emma and Lisa, were there too - their stall looked lovely as always!! - and I even got to meet Supermum aswell.... there were some lovely quilts on show and this was my absolute favourite. It was made by Linda Park from Alford, Aberdeenshire - and I thought it was stunning. I have always wanted to make a "New York Beauty" quilt, and this has spurred me on to make one.....if anyone out there knows who Linda is, please get her to contact me so I can tell her how fabulous her quilt was!
