Just to let you know that I've had a fab morning over at my local quilt shop today with my friend Helen. Karin was hosting a Norwegian day at Quilters Haven, and I had lots of my runners and bags on display. Karin was busy making Norwegian waffles and coffee, and we heard lots about the Hurtigruten, the working ship that sails up the coast of Norway. Lucy (the Hurtigruten rep) provided us with a really great slideshow - oh how I miss Norway!! Anyway here's a piccie of me with Karin and Lynne, the rep from Arena Travel - with a few of my runners in the background of course!! Afterwards my friend Helen and I headed off to the local tea rooms for a very large slice of cake and a coffee - what a perfect morning!

After a really busy day at work today, just look what had arrived in the post when I got home! This lovely runner was sent to me as part of a swap that I took part in, and today it finally arrived all the way from America..... .....my swap partner had added in some extra goodies for me too - a book about hand applique, and some fabric and some yummy chocolate raisins..... .....this runner looks really great on my dining table. Thank you so much Barbara Bobbie Shotwell Zitelli - I love it! Now I'm looking forward to making things for the next swap which is a "Secret Santa". Do you remember the runner that I made for the "Sew SwapIt" FB group that I belong to? Well it was posted off to my swapee, Anne Glencer, and it went all the way to Virginia in America - it has arrived safely, and Anne says it's beautiful! Now I'm getting ready to make another gift for the next swap which is a "Secret Santa" and we can chose to make anything from the following list: a pillow, a Christmas stocking, a Christmas table runner, a pot holder set, an apron, a pair of mug rugs, a holiday wall hanging, a set of 4 Christmas tree ornaments, or a sewing machine cover. Oh and yes, I will share lots of piccies on my blog of the project that I decide to make! If any of my blog readers are local to this area (or even if they're not!!) they might be interested in a Norwegian Day that is being hosted at my local quilt shop. The owner, Karin, is hosting this day and there will be a rep from the Hurtigruten. She will describe the epic voyage along the Norwegian coast made by the Hurtigruten ships since 1870. Her talk will feature highlights from the 37 towns visited each day by two working ships, one calling from the south and the other calling from the north as they bring vital supplies to the local people. One of the stops along the route is in Bodø, just North of the Arctic Circle, where my friend Hanne has the most wonderful quilt shop - Lappedila - hei hei Hanne!!..... .....there will be coffee and waffles (Norwegian waffles are DELICIOUS and I've got my very own Norwegian waffle maker that my friend Eva bought me when she came to stay with me - how lucky am I!!) - and a "make and take" that my daughter Alice is teaching, and a free raffle too.... .....anyway, the most important thing is, Karin asked me if I could lend her some of my Norwegian projects to display in the shop. Well of course I said yes, so there will be lots of my work on display, mostly table runners, and some bags - all designs that I have made from Scandinavian patterns and magazines. Hope to see you there!! |
