Here are the 6 blocks that I've been busy stitching for the past few months - Alice, Louise, Mary, Katherine and finally Charlotte. These all form The Sopwell Ladies Basket Society quilt, designed by the Australian designer Gail Pan Designs. The fabrics used are mainly from the Sequoia collection, by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts for Andover Fabrics, and were supplied as a kit along with the set of 6 patterns from Cross Patch, an online quilt shop in Wales, here in the UK. (If you click on the pictures, they will be enlarged). These 6 blocks have all been machine pieced, hand embroidered and hand appliqued. Some of the baskets are trimmed with vintage lace and when the quilting has been completed, some vintage buttons will be added to some of the blocks too. Next step is stitch these blocks together, then add the borders - more pictures to follow later in the week!

Charlotte is the final block of The Sopwell Ladies Basket Society Quilt. This has been stitched using a variety of techniques - hand applique, hand embroidery and machine piecing. This quilt is designed by the Australian designer Gail Pan, and was bought as a kit including the fabrics and the set of patterns from Cross Patch, an online quilt shop in Wales, here in the UK. Now this block is completed, it can be joined together with the other 5 gorgeous blocks and will be ready for adding the 2 borders. This has been a lovely quilt to stitch, and I shall be sorry to see it finished as I have had so much pleasure in making this.
Eeekkkkk!! That dreadful moment when you realise you've forgotten to add some lace trimming to block 5, which was originally pieced togetber 3 weeks ago. Looks like I'm going to be busy in my sewing studio this morning doing some reverse stitching!!
The final appliqued basket for block 6 "Charlotte" of The Sopwell Ladies Basket Society Quilt has been completed! This has been hand appliqued using the applique paper and glue stick method, along with Apliquick tools. The majority of these fabrics are from the Sequoia fabric collection, by Edyta Sitar of Laundrey Basket Quilts for Andover Fabrics, and were supplied as a kit from Cross Patch, an online quilt shop based in Wales, here in the UK. Now these "mini- blocks" have been finished, they can be joined together. Once "Charlotte" is completed, I'll share some more pictures!
These two pieced baskets are for Charlotte, the final block for The Sopwell Ladies Basket Society Quilt. Trimmed with vintage lace, these mini blocks will be pieced together oncd I''ve finished the last applique basket, and prepped some more applique circles. This quilt has been very time consuming, but very well worth it!
