Another baby - so another baby quilt! This one is for a friend of my daughter, who recently had a baby. I'd purchased the fabrics - a pack of charm squares of the On The Farm collection by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda from Deb's Fabrics and used a feature print for the backing from the same collection, purchased from Coast and Country Crafts and Quilts - both of which are here in the UK. I used one of my favourite quilt patterns, Charm Squares Baby Quilt by Elizabeth Hartman and it's available as a free PDF download from her website... ...as always with this simple pattern, I quilted straight rows just half an inch apart, using the edge of the walking foot as a guide. Valdani 35wt thread wa sused for the machine quilting, and these straight rows add a lovely texture to the quilt. The bamboo wadding that I used was purchased from Oh Sew Sweet and launders really well, and makes the quilt very soft and snuggly. A red spotty binding was machined to the front of the quilt, folded over and hand stitched to the back. One of my pre-printed labels has been machine stitched across oe of the corners... ...and here's the completed quilt, which was finally gifted to the new baby at the weekend. I hope he'll enjoy getting lots of cuddles wrapped up in this quilt.
