I've recetly made another Friendshop Notebook - this pattern is by the Australian designer Gail Pan, and this one was made as a birthday gift for a very special person - one of my cousins who has recently come into my life. I've made several journal covers over the past few years, and this pattern has to be my favourite! This particular journal cover was made with strips of French General fabrics (French General is by Moda), and has been machine quilted very simply with a mid-grey Aurifil 40wt thread. The background fabric is a neutral print by Lynette Anderson Designs...
...the hand embroidery has been completed with DMC stranded embroidery thread, in a shade to match the red fabrics. It's easily removed, so when the notebook is full it can soon be replaced. I've included an A5 sized notebook with dividers - these are a useful size, and spiral binding makes then much easier to insert into the cover. I'm really pleased with this one. Although the original uses larger pieces of fabric, this pattern lends itself well to using lots of scraps and an assortment of trimmings - it's really up to you to decide however you want to make them. Anyway, this was posted off and has safely arrived, and my cousin is really pleased with it.
Hi - welcome to my quilting blog! My passions are my family, my dog, my friends and sewing, not necessarily in that order!
