Here's the 8th block of Wish You Well - it's the 2020 I Stitch Club, which is a mystery block of the month, designed by the Australian designer Gail Pan Designs and is available from her website as a PDF download. This combines a mixture of hand embroidery and applique (you can use whatever method of applique you prefer). Each month you're sent an email with a PDF download with the pattern instructions, colour picture of the completed block and a full size traceable stitchery design. You also get a bonus project each month. I've used a GORGEOUS selection of fabrics for this project, that are from the Super Bloom collection by Edyta Sitar, which were purchased from Cross Patch an online shop based in Wales here in the UK... ..as you can see, I've used some vintage lace trimming on this block. I've got quite a collection of vintage lace trimmings and ribbons, moustly sourced from charity shops and vintage markets. The stitchery has been hand embroidered using a selection of DMC, Cosmo and Valdani embroidery threads. You can click on the pictures below to enlarge them if you want to see them in more detail. This is such a pretty BOM, I'm really looking forward to seeing these blocks all pieced together!

Another 24 skeins of Cottage Garden Threads have found a new home! The pattern for this folder, designed by the Australian designer Gail Pan, has been made like the previous 2, using fabrics from the One Stitch at a Time collection, by another Australian designer, Lynette Anderson. The fabrics (a selection of fat quarters) and this ecru coloured jumbo ric-rac trimming were purchased from Poppy Patch, as I really didn't need to buy another kit when I just needed an assortment of fabrics to mix and match!... ...this one has been hand embroidered using a variegated Valdani perle thread shade O556 - a lovely soft aqua shade - this was purchased as part of the Rainbow collection from Cross Patch - and I've picked out some vintage buttons in matching colours. These were attached to the front of the folder, stitching right through the wadding. .. ...this folder has 24 pockets inside for storing these gorgeous threads. These are variegated, stranded embroidery threads and they really are lovely to sew with. If you look in the Quilts folder at the top of my blog, you'll see a picture of "Flowerville" - this was designed by Rosalie Dekker, and was hand embroidered using a selection of these gorgeous Cottage Garden Threads... ...the folder closes nicely with a couple of fabric ties, tied in a neat bow. I've inserted a piece of stiff card into the folder before I sttiched the bottom piece of binding in place, to give the folder a bit of structure. Well that's 3 folders made - I still need to make at least 2 more so my CGT embroidery threads are all stored away neatly!
Stitching Makes my Heart Happy is a design by the Australian designer Gail Pan Designs. I recently made this in a different colourway, and loved it so much I decided to make another one! This was bought like the previous one, as a kit from Poppy Patch. These fabrics from the One Stitch at a Time collection by Lynette Anderson Designs are just perfect for this project. The hand embroidery on the centrepiece has been completed with a variegated Valdani perle thread, this time I've used shade O516, which was part of the Rainbow Collection, bought from Cross Patch. Once the centrepiece was hand appliqued into place, it was hand quilted very simply around the outside edge with the perle thread that was included in the kit, and embellished with some vintage buttons from my button tin... ...inside this thread keeper there are enough pockets to hold 24 cards of Cottage Garden Threads. Looking at my thread collection, I've still got another 62 skeins of these to find a home for! I probably have far too many of these, but these hand dyed threads are just so difficult to resist... ...the folder closes nicely with a couple of fabric ties, tied in a neat bow. These vintage buttons were from my button tin - it doesn't seem to matter how many I use, there always seems to be plenty to choose from! These were attached to the front of the folder, stitching right through the wadding. This would also be the perfect size for a small block keeper too, if I added a couple of felt pages rather than the pockets inside. Now that gives me an idea for a furure project!
Ohhh my goodness! I belong to several quilting FB groups, and one of them in particular - "In Stitches with Lynette Anderson" - had a "show and tell" during June, sharing pictures of our "Lynette" projects, to support and inspire one another. Anyway, Lynette very kindly donated some fabulous goodies for a few lucky participents and guess whose name was first out of the hat - me!! I've been waitig very patiently for the past few weeks for this to arrive, as due to current circumstances, international post has been delayed. Finally, yesterday evening at 18:45 I received an email from Australia Post to say it had at long last landed in the UK and at 09:00 this morning my lovely postman delivered it! I am thrilled to bits with these goodies! Lynette Anderson Designs thank you so much!! ❤ 1. Winter Playground Origami Squares (pack of 42 10" squares)
2. Bundle of Dancing in the Blossom fabrics 3. Fat eighth bundle of Japanese Yarndyed fabrics 4. 2 spools of Cosmo multiwork threads 5. Set of wooden thread spools 6. Jar of buttons 7. Kit for Bird in a Basket cushion |
