Here are a few more berries made with those Karen Kay Buckley Perfect Circles. Many thanks to a fabulous tutorial byPhilippa Naylor, available in her book Applique Mastery and her online classes on Quilters' Question Time. These are approx 7/8" diameter and are ready to be hand appliqued into place on the next block of my Merry Christmas Garden quilt. Using these templates ensure perfect circles - every single time! I'll soon be able to make these in my sleep!

Oh my goodness I had an AMAZING time yesterday at The Festival of Quilts - and I was thrilled to meet up with the Australian designer Gail Pan Designs who had designed The Sopwell Ladies Basket Society Quilt that I'd entered in the competition. She really is is lovely and we spent an hour chatting away - it was hard to believe it was the first time we'd ever met!
Patterns and kits for the quilt are available from Cross Patch in Wales here in the UK. What a surprise I had yesterday afternoon! My lovely friends Sue and Jane were at the Festival of Quilts at the NEC in Birmingham. They sent me a picture to show me what a great time they're having - and look what's behind them - yes, it's my version of The Sopwell Ladies Basket Society Quilt, designed by Gail Pan.I wish I'd been there with them yesterday! I'm looking forward to seeing this on display on Sunday when I'm there, and I'm looking forward to meeting up with Gail Pan too.
I recently had the pleasure of being a pattern tester for the Denim Boro Bag pattern by Judith Hollies (Just Jude Designs). I'd sent some photographs to Judith at the end of June, but had to wait before I could share any pictures on social media. The most difficult part of making the bag was keeping it a secret until the pattern was released! I used a selection of old denim garments, and teamed it with some gorgeous Tilda fabric for the lining... ...the instructions were really easy to follow, and included lots of pictures and helpful tips. I decided to repurpose a leather strap and hardwear from an old bag rather than make a denim one, and I'm really pleased with how my bag turned out. Anyway here's my completed bag and I absolutely LOVE it. If you'd like to make one, the pattern is available to purchase as a PDF download from Judith's website Just Jude Designs. I'll be using my bag on Sunday at Festival of Quilts, so if you see me please stop and say hello!
Month 3 of "Tree of Life" the latest mystery button club design by Lynette Anderson arrived in the post from Cross Patch last week. I haven't started this design yet, as I've been busy in my sewing studio with a few other projects! This particular design, "The Early Bird" is a mix of aplique and hand embroidery, and will be embellished with a hand painted wooden button. I just need to finish a couple of other projects then I can concentrate on this one!
