The Blue Butterfly Bag was started several weeks ago, and I was waiting for some inspiration for the machine quilting! I didn't want to detract from the beautiful fabrics, so eventually I decided to quilt the back of the bag in a very simple cross hatch design, with some straight rows along the lower border. I marked the design using a Clover Hera Marker, and using a variegated blue/grey Valdani 40wt quilting thread, I was able to keep the stitching straight by quilting along the indentations made by the plastic marker. Now I just need to decide what design to quilt on the front of the bag!

This quilt really does have baskets galore! This has been hand appliqued using the applique paper and glue stick method along with Apliquick tools. and stitched in place using Aurifil 80wt thread. This is part of block 3 "Mary" from The Sopwell Ladies Basket Society Quilt designed by Gail Pan Designs - and was bought as a kit from Cross Patch in Wales here in the UK. The kit included the set of patterns and these gorgeous fabrics which are from the Sequoia collection by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts for Andover Fabrics. Looking forward to getting "Mary" pieced together at the weekend.
