Her quilts are stunning, and hopefully I'll soon be able to re-create one of her designs.
For a long time I've been an admirer and follower of Rita, of Red Pepper Quilt fame, and today I've bought yet another of her quilt patterns - A Quilter's Palette. It is so easy to down load them - and you don't have to wait for the postman :)

This gorgeous pattern, Flowerdale, is by Australian quilt designer Gail Pan and it really is absolutely lovely. I ordered mine from Sarah, at Quilt Fabric Delights, in Australia, and just look at the fabrics in this kit - they are Blueberry Crumbcake, by Blackbird Designs for Moda - aren't they just yummy? This is a large project that will keep me busy for a long time, so I'll keep you posted with regular updates of my progress. I'm just going to put my feet up, have a cuppa and browse the pattern for now - oh and admire these fabrics for a little bit longer before I start cutting them up. My special friends Hanne and Eva bought me some lovely presents when they came to Birmingham. Hanne has these wonderful purse frames in her shop in Norway, Lappedilla, and she thought I might like some, together with a pattern to make these cute purses - oh I'll be able to have a different to co-ordinate with every outfit ;) Also she gave me this lacey zipper-by-the-metre for making some more make-up bags..... .....and Eva bought me a pattern and a kit to make a toalettveske (toiletry bag). She very kindly helped me to translate the pattern into English, although I'm going to make one first of all using "ugly" fabrics so I don't make a mistake using these beautiful ones. Eva also gave me some brown cheese which is delicious, especially served with Norwegian waffles, and she also gave me some hornsalt, which is essential to making perfect waffles. Oh and Hanne and Eva also taught me a few new Norwegian words, but I won't think I'll be repeating THOSE on my blog hehe especially the rude ones ;) WARNING!!! here follows a series of pictures of fabulous quilting magazines, Norwegian patterns (for runners and placemats and quilts and bags and cushions) and some absolutely-to-die-for fabrics. If you love quilting, you'll be green with envy - if you're Mr F you might have to lay down in a dark room for a few hours - anyway, let's get the party started..... .....firstly, the Christmas in July edition of my favourite Australian quilting magazine, Homepun, from The Fat Quarters based in Northumberland, full of projects that I can't wait to get started on, and Quiltemagasinet, a Norwegian magazine that I subscribe to, and is sent to me from my friend Hanne..... .....then this arrived in the post - a beautiful kit from Elisabeth at Lapp-Elise to make an AnnAKa pattern "Sommerblomster" (Summer Flowers) and in a parcel from Hanne, there's yet another AnnAKa pattern "Jordbærdrøm" (this one translates to Strawberry Dream) and will make a bag, placemats and potholders, and both patterns use a mixture of piecing and applique..... .....yes yes yes, there's yet another AnnaKa pattern, "Enkel sommerløper" (Simple Summer runner) together with all the fabric to make a tablerunner - this pattern also involves piecing, applique and stichery - Hanne I'm going to be VERY busy hehe!..... .....this beautiful pack of fabric came with the AnnAKa pattern "Britt-Lisa`s Blomsterkurver" (Britt-Lisa's Flower Baskets) and is a pattern for a tablerunner with matching cushions, again using piecing, applique and stitchery. These colours and fabrics are so beautiful - Hanne puts the most wonderful kits together.... .....and finally, some Myquilt patterns - they are a bit more difficult, and I will probably need help from my Norwegian friends Eva and Hanne to help me translate these!! These patterns arrived in the post all the way from America - I love Sweetwater fabric, avidly follow their blog Make Life Sweet and adore their patterns - I've just GOT to get started on another project - hmm - now, where is my rotary cutter and ruler?? |
