Yes it really is that Hairy Hound's First Birthday. It seems impossible to think that we first picked out this tiny scrap when he was just 4 weeks old. He bounded into our lives and has brought along a lot of laughs and a few tears along the way..... .....he is still a very naughty, mischievious puppy, for instance his favourite trick is sleeping on Mr F's chair (sometimes jumping onto the chair when Mr F has just got up to make a cuppa) and yes I KNOW he's snuggled up next to one of my quilts!! and he snores louder than Mr F and as for Jasper's farts - well, they certainly are silent but deadly. He recently picked up a frog and ran around and around the lawn with it in his mouth - much to the amusement of Mr F - luckily the frog escaped with nothing more than a free ride across the garden, and then another day Jasper picked up a freshly laid egg, which he proudly carried around, wagging his tail so hard we thought it was going to drop off - and very obediently sat down, opened his mouth and let me take the egg out - and any damage to the egg? No, not even a crack..... .....and here is the Birthday Boy himself, tucking into his supper - looking every inch the Handsome Hound that he has become, and wearing his new collar that we bought for him. Happy Birthday Jasper - here's looking forward to lots more fun and lots more birthdays with you!

Don't be fooled by those big brown puppy-dog eyes. Although he's only 3 months old, he really is a very NAUGHTY puppy! Not only has he mastered the trick of how to jump onto the sofa, but he's also perfected the art of jumping off the back of the sofa in a death-defying leap, with a distinct devil-may-care glint in his eyes..... ....and as you can see, his favourite place for a well-earned rest is curled up asleep on Mr F's chair! It really is very exhausting being a puppy you know! Even with all these naughty shenanigans, we absolutely love him to bits :) He's been invited to go to a "Puppy Party" tonight - goodness only knows what the veterinary nurse will think of him! Wishing all dads out there a very Happy Father's Day - and remembering my own dad who is sadly no longer with us. I've got so many happy memories of him. His beauty routine was pretty quick - a dab of Brylcreme and a splash of Old Spice .... .....as a little girl I would meet him on his way home from work. My favourite part of sitting in dad's lorry with him was having a swig of cold black tea that was left over from his lunch (???!!!!!) - can't believe I drank such awful stuff, but I guess it tasted good because it was my dad's :) .....he really was a true gentleman, and his passions were few - gardening, boxing, wrestling (as a little girl I spent many a Saturday afternoon squashed into his armchair with him watching Mick McManus on TV) and walking - we'd walk miles on a Sunday afternoon after lunch, collecting hazelnuts and chestnuts, with my younger sisters trailing behind moaning because their legs ached or wanting to hitch a ride in the pushchair with my baby sister Becky! As he got older he loved walking in the Yorkshire Dales with my mum - this is a fav piccie of him, near Malham Tarn. My one regret is that we didn't have a family holiday altogether with him and mum - with all his daughters and grandaughters.... .....and finally a quick update on Jasper - he bounded into our lives and hasn't stopped yet! He's such a happy puppy, full of fun and energy - and has completely taken over the Foreman household! Last night we finally brought home this little bundle of mischief - don't be fooled by those big soulful eyes - last night he howled and whined and cried - you've never heard such a hullabaloo!! My daughter Alice spent the night on the floor in a sleeping bag beside him and this morning they were BOTH asleep in the sleeping bag! Which I suppose is better than them both being asleep in his cage..... .....anyway, he's had a good time this morning, running around with all his new toys and sniffing everything and playing chase-my-tail-and-try-to-bite-it and lots of other puppy games. He really is the most adorable little thing!! Hopefully I'll soon get back to sewing and quilting and normal service will be resumed on my blog! It wouldn't be Sunday without a visit to see the puppies - and it was amazing to see how much they'd grown AGAIN in just a week - and they were so full of energy, it was hard to get them to keep still for the obligatory photoshoot! Jasper was so wriggly - here he is trying to lick Rachel (she's holding his sister, Teal, who was much better behaved)..... .....doesn't he look cute? He comes home with us next week - better lock all those fabrics and threads out of the way - oh and shoes and bags and quilts and books and - need I go on? We went off to see the puppies again today. We hadn't seen them for a couple of weeks and we were in for a big surprise - oh my goodness how they've grown!! As you can see, Jasper is looking very contented with his soon-to-be-new-master, Mr F. (Actually, it has to be said, Mr F is looking very contented with Jasper)..... .....he also looked very contented sitting on Alice's lap..... .....and he was more than contented running around and playing in the garden..... .....he was absolutly exhausted after he'd been running around the garden with his brothers and sisters, so we left him to dream about chasing his tail - and chasing cats - and chasing pigeons - we are so excited about bringing him home with us VERY soon :) We've been to see the puppies again - and we couldn't believe how much they had grown! They are now 5 weeks old. This is DEFINATELY the one for us!! Mr F picked this one a couple of weeks ago, and now he's got a name - Jasper - he really is a cute little chap (the puppy that is, not Mr F)..... .....Jasper is very inquisitive, and just had to investigate Mr F's shoelaces..... .....then he had a playful chew on my bag - oh dear - better get our home puppy-proofed super quick!! In an earlier blog post, I wrote about some really cute puppies - and this could be the new addition to the Foreman household!! Mr F was really taken with this cute pup, so this little fellow could be coming home with us in the not-too-distant-future..... .....as you can see, it's a real hard life being a puppy, especially when you're only three-weeks-old..... .....this is my gorgeous little god-daughter with another one - they really are so sweet. Now we just need to puppy-proof our home :) Oh dear - do you think puppies like chewing quilts?? On Easter Saturday, Mr F, Alice and me had a HUGE surprise when we were delivering Easter eggs to our godchildren - their black lab has had 9 puppies!! They are 2 weeks old, and were just opening their eyes..... .....this is the very clever mum - she was vey proud of her pups, and wanted us to make a huge fuss of her. it was so lovely to see them - but made us realise how much we all miss our beautiful dog Magic :( |
